Carnival built its reputation on making dinner part of the fun instead of an afterthought. Guests can grab a burger at Guy's Burger Joint, tacos and burritos at BlueIguana Cantina, or a drink at RedFrog Pub, plus round-the-clock options at the Lido Marketplace buffet, JiJi Asian Kitchen, and Bonsai Sushi without ever leaving the pool deck.
For guests who want to dress up a little (or at least put on real shoes), most ships also offer specialty dining like the steakhouse at Fahrenheit 555, Italian at Cucina del Capitano, and on select ships an actual Chef's Table experience in the galley. Room service is available too, so there's rarely a good reason to actually get out of bed before noon on sea days — check onboard for current menu and any delivery fees, since those can vary by ship and item.

Camp Ocean, presented in partnership with SeaWorld, splits kids into age groups from toddlers through age 11 with marine-life themed activities, while Circle "C" gives tweens their own space and Club O2 does the same for teens — all run by youth counselors as part of the standard cruise fare.
Family Harbor staterooms cluster families together near a dedicated lounge with games and daily snacks, so parents don't have to choose between a nice cabin and being five decks away from the kids. Add in water parks, arcades, and a steady rotation of family game shows, and there's a real chance the kids will be asking to go back before the ship even leaves the dock.
Entertainment That Doesn't Take Itself Too Seriously
Onboard entertainment runs from Playlist Productions stage shows to stand-up at the Punchliner Comedy Club, with two shows a night so both the family crowd and the later, saltier set get their turn. The Alchemy Bar mixes up drinks with a bit of theater to them, and Piano Bar 88 turns into a singalong the moment someone requests the right song.
Add in live music in the lounges, hosted game shows, trivia, and themed deck parties most nights of the cruise, and it's the kind of lineup built for people who came to cruise, not to sit quietly and contemplate the horizon (though a quiet corner of the ship is usually available too, if that's more your speed).
Pools, Slides & WaterWorks
Most Carnival ships pack in multiple pools, hot tubs, and a WaterWorks aqua park with slides like the Twister and Drainpipe — built for both bragging rights and mild regret halfway down. Adults looking to escape the splashing can usually find the Serenity adults-only retreat tucked away on a quieter deck, loungers and all.
Add mini golf, sports courts, and ropes courses on select ships, and there's rarely a good excuse to just sit still. On the newer ships the slide count alone can run into the double digits, so plan on sunscreen reapplication being a real part of the daily schedule.
Excel Class: Bigger, Bolder, Faster
Carnival's Excel Class ships — Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration, and Carnival Jubilee — introduced BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea, letting riders control their own speed along a track that loops out over the side of the ship. It's Carnival's answer to "how do we make a floating resort feel like a theme park too?"
Beyond BOLT, the Excel ships add extra dining venues, a bigger casino, and distinct themed zones like the French Quarter, La Piazza, and the Ultimate Playground, where BOLT shares deck space with ropes courses and waterslides. They're some of the most activity-packed ships in the fleet, sea days included.
